National Library Week
During National Library Week Douglas Intermediate had several guest readers that visited with students and shared a story with them. Our readers for the week were Chiropractor Chris Hammons, Judge Chris Brown, Heather Johnson, Janiene Fain, Monica Crouch, Kay McClure with her dog Pepper, SSISD Superintendent Michael Lamb, Robert Cody, and Becky Peugh with her dog Sadie. We thank all of them for taking the time to visit with us and care for our students.
My College Mondays
My College Monday is a program throughout the district promoting college and career readiness. Each Monday staff and students wear college T-shirts of their choice to reiterate the message that “after high school comes college”. By the last Monday of the school year the district’s goal is 100% participation with all students and staff wearing a favorite college shirt.
Parent Information for STAAR Results
The State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness, or STAAR, replaced the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) program in the spring of 2012. The STAAR program at grades 3–8 assess the same grades and subjects that were assessed on TAKS. For high school, general subject-area TAKS tests have been replaced with twelve STAAR end-of-course (EOC) assessments.
