Fine Arts
SSISD offers Art from 6th to 12th grade serving over 500 students.
The Art Department is under the direction of Dr. Philip Dick
(SSHS Art 2-4, UIL Film Sponsor and SSISD Fine Arts Coordinator).
Amber Warren (SSHS) Art 1 and Amy Maker (SSHS) Art 1 and Digital Animation.
Jordan Ortloff (SSMS) and Alison Stevens (SSMS) 6th-8th Art.


Art students participate in local and regional competitions/exhibitions, community projects, and international humanitarian projects (Enabling the Future - 3D printed prosthetics, Memory Project - portraits of orphaned children, Sole Hope - shoes for children in Africa, etc.).


Art curriculum covers Art criticism, Art history, the Elements of Art, Principles of Design, Design Thinking, 3D Printing, CAD, drawing, color theory, painting, ceramics, mixed media, printmaking, jewelry, sculpture, mosaic, digital Art and more.


SSHS Art Department alumni have been awarded scholarships to top Art schools (School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Maryland Institute College of Art).
