Every app listed below has been reviewed and approved for use in SSISD classrooms. Federal laws like FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) and COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) set the baseline for protecting student privacy, and Texas has added its own requirements including a 2024 state law, the SCOPE Act (Securing Children Online Through Parental Empowerment), that calls for informed parental consent before students use a software application.

To meet that standard, we use 1EdTech's TrustEd Apps Management Suite (TAMS) to manage and publish the list. Each entry links directly to that vendor's privacy policy, so you can see for yourself how student information is collected, used, and protected in one place.

Some tools, like Blooket and Kahoot as well as a small group of others, are marked with a "Self-Supported Tool" designation. These are widely-used classroom tools that the district doesn't purchase or partner with directly, but that we know our teachers use, so we include them here for transparency. For peace of mind, these tools are still student-safe — they're simply not district-purchased or formally partnered platforms. If your child's teacher uses one of these tools, you'll receive a district permission form to sign before your student is able to interact with these platforms.
