Officer Whittle with Willie the Wildcat |
Every student is extremely valuable! Every student is as important to our campus as each member of the Middle School staff. That's why Sulphur Springs Middle School (SSMS) does more than simply say we are concerned about ensuring the security and safety of everyone on our campus, we provide highly trained and experienced security personnel along with the latest in video surveillance technology. Such individuals and equipment promote a safer environment for everyone, and serve to reduce the number of safety and criminal occurrences on our campus. Randy Whittle, heads up campus security at SSMS. Officer Whittle has served as a police officer for thirty-three years. Prior to initiating his duties as campus police officer in the fall of 1996, he served the city of Sulphur Springs as Deputy Police Chief until retiring earlier the same year. During Officer Whittle's career within the local police department, he served as Patrol Sergeant, Lieutenant over the Criminal Investigation Division (CID), and Administrative Captain over Patrol and CID. Officer Whittle holds a Professional Certificate of Law Enforcement Science and Criminal Justice, and he has received the Master Peace Officer Certificate (the highest law enforcement certification you can receive in the state of Texas). |
Officer Whittle's duties currently include enforcement of criminal laws, and ensuring the security / safety of students and staff while on campus. One area of special attention for Officer Whittle is parking lot activity. He monitors and regulates campus parking lot traffic and activity, assists in apprehension of criminal suspects and truants, and aides in processing juveniles found in violation of the schools "no tolerance" fighting policy.
