SSMS had a VEX IQ Team advance to STATE and a VEX VRC Team advance to STATE. Both competitions were held this past weekend and had great success!
The VEX IQ Team members, all 7th graders, were: Jordan Foster, Brody Wells, Peyton Taylor, and Trinity White. They competed very well and gained great experience to help them in future robotics competitions.
Our VEX VRC Team members, all 8th graders, were: Cooper Thesing, Sawyer Shutt, Gavin Solorzano, and Zackary Young. This team made it all the way to the Quarterfinals. They were ranked high enough in the Skills portion of the competition, consisting of driving and coding skills, to still have hopes of being invited to the VEX Worlds competition on a Wildcard. This competition will be held in Dallas at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Center on April 27-29.
All these students have worked very hard this year. Being the first year for each of these teams to compete in their respective competitions, it is great to see them make it to the State Competition!
