Career & Technical Education Courses Requiring Face-to-Face Meeting

TEA has determined that some Career & Technical (CTE) courses may require on-campus instruction.
These courses require specialized equipment, direct supervision of hands-on activities and/or
specific materials and technology. It is the responsibility of the school districts to determine
the appropriate amount of on-campus instruction needed to meet the TEKS and award course credit.
Based on TEA’s guidelines, SSHS CTE teams have developed a list of courses that must meet
face-to-face and a list of courses that will require some face- to-face requirements to earn credit
for the courses. For full face-to-face courses, virtual students will be allowed to come to campus
for those class periods or will be guided by counselors and myself to other courses. For courses
requiring some face-to-face time, instructors will communicate with students the requirements to be
able to earn credit for the courses. The face-to-face time for these courses must be scheduled with
the instructor for credit to be earned. Instructors are willing to work with students for face-to-
face requirements to include times before/after school or during conference periods. Please contact
Jenny Arledge at for any questions regarding these courses.
