Character Construction

The objective is to instill in each student positive character behavior. In order for these traits to become internalized, we incorporate character words into our daily teaching routines. Each Six Weeks a different character trait is emphasized in the classroom. Class councils are held weekly. " Caught being good " passes are given to students weekly.

Walk Across Texas

The Douglas School Walk Across Texas Program promotes healthy lifestyles while taking part in friendly competition between the classes. Every six weeks, during all P.E. classes, family and friends are invited to come walk a designated area to collect straws that represent each lap walked. The Golden Shoe is awarded to the class who has received the most straws.

Dragon Dollar Day

Students earn Dragon Dollars in many different ways. Teachers reward students with Dragon Dollars when the students show outstanding behavior, good work, and follow the school rules. As a reward, we have one day at the end of each semester to spend all of the Dragon Dollars. Students can bid to be Principal, PE teacher, Police Chief, Sheriff, or a Judge for a day at the auction. Students can also spend their Dragon Dollars to buy food, trips and games.

Perfect Attendance Celebration

Every six weeks, all students who are in attendance each full school day are treated to a celebration of fun, food, and games.

Honor Table

Each six weeks, students recognized with the most character checks in each classroom are recognized by entering the cafeteria through a cheering line and having lunch with their families and friends at a special table.

Student of the Week

Each week the classroom teacher names a student to be honored for this award based on his/her outstanding behavior, positive attitude and hard work. The students from each of the classes receive certificates and their pictures are displayed.

CNB Kids Bank

City National Bank offers the students the opportunity to open a savings account with the parent's approval. Employees of CNB come to the campus on designated days for studentas to make deposits to their accounts.
