Dear Parents, Patrons and Community,

On behalf of the faculty and staff, I would like to welcome you to an exciting new school year.  “Excellence in Teaching and Learning” is the motto in Sulphur Springs ISD and will be emphasized as we continue to focus on student learning, student achievement and student success.  2009-2010 was a good year in the district with our students and staff amazing and impressing us with many accomplishments.  I expect 2010-2011 to be equally successful.

The summer has been very busy with the start of the building projects included in the passage of the $48.4 bond issue in May 2009.  The ‘official groundbreaking’ was celebrated at the new middle school site on July 22.  Our goal is to have students and staff in the new building in January, 2012.  The multipurpose building at the High School is scheduled for completion in January, 2011.  The lighting and bleachers have been installed at the track/soccer complex with parking and restrooms to be added in the near future.  Douglas classrooms and renovations at the third and fourth grade campus will be completed during the summer of 2011.  We ask for continued patience during the inconveniences of the construction periods on the campuses.

I’m excited and looking forward to the new school year.  As superintendent, I have high expectations for myself, students, teachers, and administrators.  We know education is the key to our future and quality education does not come easy.  Our success depends on our hard work as we focus on the needs of each student and prepare for each school day.  The overall success of our students and district lies in our ability to work in partnership with our parents and community.

Again, I would like to express my appreciation for the support the school has had in recent years and especially the support of the bond issue to improve facilities and add much needed space at the elementary and middle school levels.  It is an honor for me to live here and work with students, parents, the community and employees of SSISD.   We are on a journey toward educational excellence, and we are committed to maintaining our focus on students learning, student achievement, and student success.

Together we can reach our goals and meet the needs of our students and our community.  It is crucial as there are 4,100+ students depending on us.

Sincerely,
