PTO Programs Third grade students performed This is America during the October PTO meeting. Their songs expressed American pride and patriotism.
Safety Programs Andy the Ambulance and the Pilot Club Puppets visited Bowie sharing safety tips with the students.
Hispanic Heritage Month The Como Pickton High School Latin Dance Team performed traditional dances of various hispanic cultures.
Parent Orientation Bowie parents get informed about expectations, policies, and get to know the teachers each year during the first few weeks of school.
Wonderful Wednesdays Bowie first graders participate in this program every Wednesday. It was designed by their teachers to provide a differentiated curriculum, incorporate enrichment activities, and include special populations.
Bicycle Rodeo The Hopkins County Memorial Hospital sponsors a Bicycle Rodeo for first grade students each year. Douglas Intermediate students assist with the safety program which provides free helmets to students.
Strings Fourth graders have the opportunity to participate in the Strings Program. It is taught by Lyna Jane Bryant.
Bowie Choir Fourth grade students have the opportunity to audition for a part in the Bowie Choir. It is led by Ann Garrett.
Wal-Mart Grant Wal-Mart donates $1,000 to Bowie through a Matching Grant after the Winter Festival fundraiser. The grant is used for supplies and equipment that enhance the educational process.
CNB Kids Savings Account City National Bank visits area schools for the CNB Kids program. Fourth graders have the opportunity to deposit money into their savings account. Employees of the City National Bank go to each school twice a month.
Bowie Bucks Students earn Bowie Bucks for attendance, returning daily folder, excellent behavior, finishing daily work, and exhibiting positive character traits. Students may spend them for prizes, homework passes, field trips, to have an extra P.E., recess, or computer lab, or various other special privileges throughout the year.
Winter Festival PTO sponsors a Winter Festival fundraiser in December at Bowie. Staff, students, and families enjoy food, games, and an auction in the Winter atmosphere of the decorated building. The money earned is used to support all areas of the education of our students.
