Class Rules
  1. Respect the teacher as well as well as fellow classmates.
  2. Be responsible for your assigned computer. Do not change the background on the desktop, download programs of any kind, or vandalize the computer in any way.
  3. No food or drinks in the classroom.
  4. Stay on task. No games! No email! No Internet access except for classroom assignments. No texting!
  5. Do not disrupt instruction or learning in any way.
Procedures
  1. Be on time and prepared. You should be in your seat when the bell rings with your materials and pen/pencil ready.
  2. At the beginning of the period, complete the assigned focus activity.
  3. Raise your hand when you have a problem, comment, or question. Do not speak out without permission. Use "3 Before Me" rule (Use notes, book, Help feature, or ask a fellow student before asking for help.).
  4. Only one person should be at the printer at a time. Print each assignment only once (Use spell check, proofread, and print preview each document before printing.) Turn in all assignments in the appropriate box for your class.
  5. At the end of the period, throw away all trash, log off, return the book to its proper location, remain seated until you are dismissed, and push in your chair after being dismissed.
Grading Policy

Major grades will comprise 50% of your six weeks grade. Major grades include tests, major projects, and portfolio items. Daily grades will comprise the other 50% of your grade. Daily grades will include daily assignments, focus questions, quizzes, and classroom participation.

Academic Ethics:

You are expected to complete your own assignments. If cheating occurs, all parties involved will be denied credit for the assignment or test, and you will not have an opportunity to make up the work.
Make-Up and Late Work Policy

Make-Up Work

When you are absent, it is your responsibility to get your make-up work. Make-up work notes/handouts will be placed in the make-up work file by the printer. The assignments should be posted on my web site or it will be your responsibility to ask me for the assignments that you missed while you were out.

You will be given one class meeting day to complete work for each class day you were absent. (Work should be made up during tutorials.) If you missed a test, it will be your responsibility to make an appointment with me to make up your test. Tests cannot bemade up during the class period. Your appointment must be no later than one week after the test is given. If the test is not made up within the one week time period, you will receive a grade of zero on the test.

Late Work

Short-term and long-term assignments turned in one day late will result in a grade no higher than 75; two to five days late will result in a grade no higher than 70; and over five days late will result in a grade of zero. There will be NO EXCEPTIONS.

Technology Use Guidelines

Sulphur Springs High School provides students with a variety of technology to use for educational purposes. To use the technology provided by Sulphur Springs High School, students must abide by the following guidelines. Failure to abide by the guidelines may result in the loss of user privileges, monetary cost to repair, and/or further discipline. Use of the technology is a privilege, not a right.

Guidelines:

  • Students will log on under their account and will not allow other students to log on under their account.
  • Sharing of computer files will not be tolerated. Zeroes will be given to all parties involved.
  • The use of memory sticks will NOT be allowed in the classroom. They will be taken up!
  • Technology is only to be used for assignments and activities related to school.
  • Use of respectful language in all forms of communication is required.
  • Do not retrieve or send unethical, illegal, or simply inappropriate or unacceptable information of any type.
  • Do not interfere with or disrupt network users, services, or equipment. Disruptions include, but are not limited to, distribution of unsolicited advertising, circulation of computer viruses, and using a network to make unauthorized entries toany other machine accessible via a network.
  • Do not alter the software/hardware content of the computers or any other technology. This includes files, downloading programs, and copying commercial programs.
  • Do not tamper with security software.
