Business Professionals of America
Who can join?
Business Professionals of America is for any student who is enrolled in a business, office, or business education course or program in a secondary, middle level, or post-secondary institution.
What is the purpose?

The purpose of Business Professionals of America is to prepare students for the business workforce through advancement of leadership, citizenship, academic, and technological skills. By integrating its programs into the business classroom, BPA builds leadership, professionalism, poise, dependability, patriotism, and competency into business students.

Involvement as an active BPA member will be one of the most rewarding aspects of any business education program. Through this involvement, lasting relationships will be developed with community business circles, and members will be given exposure to potential new employers. Opportunities for having fun, visiting new exciting places, experiencing new activities, and growing both personally and professionally is what BPA is all about.

What do members do?
  • Members learn how to work effectively with others and to take advantage of every opportunity to learn adn understand the needs of employers.
  • Members demonstrate occupational and leadership skills in the Workplace Skills Assessment Program contests.
  • Members prepare for their roles as citizens through leadership development, activities, workshops, and conferences.
  • Members serve their communities.
How can you become involved?
  • Pay your dues of $20 to one of the BPA sponsors (Mrs. Arledge, Mrs. McKinzie, or Mrs. Smith).
  • Attend the BPA meetings
  • Compete at the Regional Contest in Garland on January 19. If you advance, the state contest will in Dallas this year in March. The National contest will be in Reno, Nevada from May 7-11.

Announcements:

  • Next meeting is Friday, Nov. 9 at 7:30 am in Room 307. You must show your progress for your individual and team event at this time. We have to register you for contest by Nov. 30.
  • Community Service Project: Trucking for the Troops. Listen to announcements and make your donations.
  • Contest Deadlines: Some of the individual and team event projects must be mailed in by Dec. 14. Check to see if your individual or team event has a deadline. If so, we will need your projects to be turned in before the deadline in order to have them mailed on time.
